My story with tarot didn’t begin with illumination, family tradition or any sort of instruction. It began twenty years ago with an underdeveloped pre-frontal cortex and no knowledge, wisdom or method beyond the audacity, a deck and the booklet that came with it. 

 

I didn’t make the best use of tarot in my beginnings. I’ve always leaned towards a predictive approach (except for the time in which I tried to be "Professional ™" and sanitized my entire practice of divination to conform to the ethical standards of other people) but I didn’t have the life experience or the discernment to make a good use of it. What I did have, was the curiosity to persist, shameless insistence in making people let me read their cards and more confidence than my skill then granted.

One thing took to the next and, in late 2015 I embarked on the adventure of attempting to read tarot for a living in the company of a then friend. The project did not go as expected, but, despite its convoluted story, by the end of it I was determined. I didn't want to do anything else.

 

My relationship with what would later become the tableau (which I would only realize after a number of years was an actual reading style and not something I had come up with, an experience that many have shared after coming across the concept) had already begun to take shape, and so had my true commitment to tarot as a career and a life purpose.
 

Even though the journey wasn’t perfect, I would lie if I said I’m anything but happy about how it turned out. It’s been a journey of evolution, of finding a system that works for me and others that allows me to help both querents and students, and finding my true voice in the process.
