How to Ask Saint Expedite for Help

This time around, I'm stepping out of my usual tarot and divination content to share about my experience with Saint Expedite, so that, if it resonates, you may also call upon him in a moment of need.
I'll preface by saying that I am, in the words of my wonderful editor Judika Illes (if you're interested in Saints, you may enjoy her book Encyclopedia of Mystics, Saints and Sages), "spiritually promiscous". I find that I resonate with different spirits more than with a particular tradition. That said, I was not particularly interested in Saints to begin with (perhaps too close to textbook catholicism for comfort). Three to four years ago, I began to find some of their stories compelling and the accounts of their intervention fascinating, but it wasn't until I met my friend Kamille (who also changed my mind about working with Psalms despite my reticence to the Abrahamic) that I truly opened my mind, and my heart, to incorporating saints into my spiritual practice.
The story of my change of heart, though, belongs to a different issue (which I would be happy to write if there's interest) since today's subject is no other than Saint Expedite, the warrior saint, known for delivering fast results to the petitions of those in need.
I had heard of Saint Expedite before. My grandmother (the one I didn't have a close relationship with) had a close relationship with him, though it didn't register to me at the time. Over time, once my interest in saints had already been stablished, I began to see people posting a thank you to Saint Expedite on social media. But I am reluctant to knocking on some spirit's door asking for something right away, without stablishing a prior connection, and, while I'm a believer of inherited connections with spirits, it didn't feel quite right to claim my grandmother's connection since we didn't get along. So getting acquainted with Saint Expedite was something that stayed in the back of my mind but that I never got around doing, and when something urgent was needed, I found myself in the same scenario: not acquainted enough to ask yet.

Until, as I read about Saint Expedite, I found out that he was not a spirit to care much about proper introductions, but about urgency and reason, and so, next time I was in a pickle, I gave it a go and I made my request to Saint Expedite. After all, what was there to lose? It was timid, but it was also faithful since I was encouraged by all the testimonies I had heard of his assistance, and well, let me tell you that despite not having been acquainted before, he delivered fast and beyond what I needed, and I was absolutely grateful for that. I have requested his assistance since, and I have found that Saint Expedite is fast, honest, and easy in the sense that he doesn't require overcomplication or paraphernalia. In my experience, I have found that requesting his assistance requires honesty and calling a spade a spade. Saint Expedite delivers best when you're not trying to dress up your request or make it sound nobler, or "higher", or more distressed than it actually is.
Asking for Saint Expedite's Help
I cannot claim any other expertise than my own experience asking for Saint Expedite's help, so feel free to deepen your knowledge before approaching Saint Expedite by consulting other sources if you need. This is what I do and what has worked for myself. Your milleage may vary. Simple formulations without fanfare work great: "I need this for this reason before date, pretty please." Perhaps a bit more elaborate, but without beating around the bush. After all, Saint Expedite is nothing but fast, and he is too busy tending to our little mortal drama to hear a quarter hour of justifications for our request. But, if you, like me, are still an overthinker, let me share the formulation that I tend to use when requesting Saint Expedite's help. I often find a moment of silence and calm, I write down my petition (in a formulation similar to the one below) and when I'm ready, I make the petition with faith and conviction, sometimes with a lit candle, sometimes with nothing, and generally reading it out loud because it feels more real to me.
"Saint Expedite, miraculous benefactor of men's most pressing needs, I call upon your assistance with this urgent matter, please hear my plea.
Please, assist me in (insert what you need as clearly and specifically as you can) by (date) so that (insert the distress you will avoid by having it or the benefit that you will gain). Please, bring it to me from good, willing and honest sources, without causing loss or grief to me or any other.
As a thank you, upon receiving your favour, I will (insert promise to Saint Expedite.)
So be it / Amen / Whatever you say to conclude this kind of petition."
Keeping your promises to Saint Expedite
An important part of being in Saint Expedite's good books is keeping your promises to him and executing them promptly after receiving your favours. They don't need to be overly complicated, but they need to be sincere. My advice here is simple: It's better to promise something that you can realistically do promptly than to promise something grand that you will never get around doing because it is too complex to fit into your daily life.
Saint Expedite likes offerings of pound cake, red candles, and acknowledgement and praise. It is not uncommon to see posts or stories on Instagram (at least in my version of the algorythm) thanking Saint Expedite for favours received, and according to Judika Illes's Encyclopedia of Mystics, Saints and Sages, it used to be common to see Saint Expedite's praise on newspapers.
In fact, this very post is a thank you to Saint Expedite for favours received, artwork included (feel free to use the image of Saint Expedite in this post for his praise if you feel so inclined).
